Praise-Apella Sings to Inspire

From Gregorian chants to Barbershop Quartets, a cappella music has a rich and enduring history. Popularized by artists such as Bobby McFerrin and Boyz II Men and highlighted on the recent NBC show, The Sing Off, this vocal music without the usual instrumental accompaniment continues to wow listeners.

Praise Apella

Translated from the Italian, a cappella literally means "in chapel style" or "in the church style". Though secular music is included today, the term originally referred to religious music composed for multiple voices with the intention of being performed without instruments. Since a cappella music is so deeply rooted in the church, it is no surprise to find it still beautifully represented by the contemporary Christian group, Praise-Apella. As with other Christian groups who came before them, such as Take 6 and Glad, Praise-Apella is committed to using their vocal giftings "for the praise of God's glory".

Based out of Cleveland, Ohio, the founder and bass vocalist of the group, Ryan Fischer, is joined by fellow vocalists Amy Jo Short, Jen Howser, Dean Stamatis and, vocal percussionist, Ron Smith. They are currently touring with their new CD, Love God, which is a collection of contemporary Christian songs including Everlasting God, Blessed Be Your Name and I’m Letting Go. Of course, the songs have been arranged and performed in the Praise-Apella style so that you almost feel like you’re hearing them for the first time.

Having opened for and performed with contemporary Christian recording artists Michael W. Smith, AVALON, Natalie Grant, Brandon Heath, and The Katinas, to name a few, Praise-Apella offers a unique and uplifting concert experience. Thankfully, north Texans will have an opportunity to hear the group perform on April 8th at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano. If you’re a fan of inspirational music and rhythmic vocal percussion coupled with pristine vocal harmonies, make sure you do not miss this wonderful evening with Praise-Apella!
