According to the National Retail Federation, as of 2010, in a two-parent family the adults will spend and average of $1600 on holiday food, decorations, and presents. Meanwhile, every four seconds a child dies somewhere in the world from a hunger-related cause.
“Sometimes we worship tradition more than we worship Jesus, preferring the comfort of the familiar to the challenge and risk of doing something new. Honoring Jesus this Christmas may require the creation of some new traditions that are more focused on what Jesus wants from us than on what we desire for ourselves.”
