Cinderella dressed in yella, went upstairs to kiss a fella. Made a mistake and kissed a snake, how many doctors will it take?
Do you remember this schoolyard rhyme? We counted 1, 2, 3, 4, 5……up to a large number of doctors that it would take to fix poor Cinderella after she made such a huge mistake and kissed a snake instead of her fella!
Fortunately, now as adults, we realize that a mistake like that is far from reality but on the flip-side, we realize just how easy it really is to make a mistake. We most likely face them every day. Some are greater than others, often times plaguing our thoughts and even affecting our actions.
Wouldn’t it be great if we could just call on 1, 2, or even 3 doctors and fix our mistakes?
Sisters, we can and we only need one doctor! God is called The Great Physician and He sent His son to die for you and all your mistakes! Wouldn’t it be a shame if Cinderella refused the care of her numerous doctors and just let the poison kill her? The world of little girls everywhere would be much dimmer without the presence of Cinderella!
That’s what happens to us with unaddressed sin. It takes us out of the game and disrupts God’s special plan for our lives. Just like little girls without Cinderella, God’s world without you would be missing a Princess and too, would be much dimmer.
We allow the poison of guilt, shame, fear, and anger to poison our thoughts, actions and even our relationship with the Lord. It’s time to lie down, accept the treatment and be made well. Your mistakes are covered and Christ provided the perfect antivenin!
While consequences accompany mistakes, the ability to handle and grow from mistakes is what you can control. You may treat mistakes as an obstacle or an opportunity, it’s your choice. With The Great Physician, you can fix your heart toward the mistakes and realize that you’ve been forgiven by the only One that truly matters.
Don’t let mistakes define you, let them refine you!
